AMA Systems Global Trading: The School of “Yes”

By Lorrie Baumann

AMA Systems Global Trading is a global supplier and trader of the most sought-after brands in the world – names like Apple, Kindle, GoPro, Canon, Sony, Nikon, Beats by Dr. Dre, Fitbit, Jawbone, The Big Green Egg, and many more. “If you would take your house and turn it upside down and shake it, just about anything that falls out, we supply,” says AMA Systems CEO Ted Argeroplos.

For further information, visit AMA Systems Global Trading at International CES in booth # 27033 in South Hall 2. After the show, visit AMASystems.com or call 410.707.6708.

For the company’s clients, the retailers of consumer electronics products, that means that AMA Systems operates almost like a buying group, except that there’s no fee to join. Items are in stock in warehouses in in Columbia, Maryland, where the company is headquartered, and in Dayton, Ohio, and orders are usually fulfilled within 24 hours. If the company is temporarily out of stock for a high-demand item, a company representative will notify you of the situation immediately. “We’re big communicators, and we’re always ready to pick up the phone – we’ll never leave you hanging,” Argeroplos says. “You can use us to work with you so you can have a bigger offering, and you can work off our inventory instead of having to take your own positions. In addition, our buying power is so great that we can offer you great pricing for your programs.”

While the products in stock are highly sought-after as they come from the manufacturer, AMA Systems also offers its customers the opportunity to customize and personalize them to create a unique offering that will appeal to customers who are shopping for corporate gifts as well as to retailers who are looking to distinguish themselves from the competition. “We can do bundling so that if you want to offer your customers a package containing a special assortment of products, we can put that together for you,” Argeroplos says. “We can do engraving and full-color printing, so that if you have a customer that needs corporate gifts, we can put together something really special with your name and logo on it. We can actually do downloads of video or music on products if needed, so if you want to sell your customers a tablet with your advertising jingle or an instructional video preloaded onto it, that’s possible. Anything you can dream up, we can do.”

The key to this kind of red-carpet service is the close working relationship between AMA Systems and the manufacturers who build the products. Those relationships mean that AMA Systems has access to close-out merchandise that’s not ordinarily available to small retailers and other clients. “We’re a global company with the capabilities to deliver anywhere in the world,” Argeroplos adds. “We are in the school of yes, not in the school of no. We’re not a square peg-square hole company. We have tens of thousands of customers and they all want things different, and we’re fine with that. That has been a big part of our success.”
